Steve Carlton was MLB pitcher from 1965 to 1988. He's 2nd in the eternal strikeout statistic and became a
Hall of Fame member in 1994. Sugar Ray Leonard was the first boxer who became world champion in 5 different
weight-classes. He had his last fight 1992, 36 years old.
In episode 0801, the NBA stars Vlade Divac, Clyde Drexler and Xavier McDaniel have cameo appearances.
In episode 0810, we can enjoy Earnie Banks, Johnny Bench and Joe Namath. Joe Namath was a NY Jets quarterback
for 12 seasons (1965-76) and played another season with the LA Rams in 1977. He was the first one to pass more
than 4000 yards in one season. He won Super Bowl III (in 1969) and was
elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985. Johnny Lee Bench was a Cincinnati catcher and power hitter. He became
World Series Champion in 1975 and 76. 1970 and 72, he was National League MVP. 1976, he was World Series MVP.
He got into the Hall of Fame in 1989. Ernest (Ernie) Banks ("Mr. Cub") was a Chicago Cubs shortstop and 1st
baseman from 1953 to 1971. He had 5 grand slam home runs in 1955 and was the first MVP in two following years
(1958 and 59). Hall of Fame 1977.
In episode 0910, we can see the following football stars in action: Ken Stabler, John S. Reynolds, Lawrence Taylor
and Bubba Smith (also appearing as Spare Tire Dixon in 516).
Charles "Bubba" Smith played for the Baltimore Colts from 1967 to 1972, missing the 1972 season because of a
knee injury. Then he moved to the Oakland Raiders (1973 and 74) and the Houston Oilers (1975-77). You can see
him in the six Police Academy movies as Moses Hightower.
Ken "The Snake" Stabler was Oakland Raiders quarterback from 1970 to 1979. He continued his career with the
Houston Oilers (1980 and 81) and the New Orleans Saints (1982-84). In 1974, he was NFL MVP.
Lawrence Taylor was a NY Giants linebacker from 1981 to 93. He is a legend for his 130 quarterback sacks and
he won Super Bowls XXI (1987) and XXV (1991). He was NFL MVP in 1986 and entered Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
"Jack" John S. "Hacksaw" Reynolds was a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams from 1970 to 1980 and for the
San Francisco 49ers from 1981 to 1984.
Rod Martin was a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders from 1977 to 1988.
In 1983, he was chosen AFC defensive player of the year.
In episode 0911, the following baseball pros on strike appear on the show: Mike Piazza, Bret Saberhagen,
Frank Thomas and Dave Winfield. Michael Joseph Piazza played as a catcher for the LA Dodgers from 1992 to 1997.
Since 1998 he plays for the NY Mets. Bret
Saberhagen is a pitcher and played from 1984 to 1991 at Kansas City and won the World Series in 1985. He changed
to the NY Mets (1992-95) and the Colorado Rockies (1996) and is now with the Boston Red Sox. Frank Thomas plays
for the Chicago White Sox since 1990 and is their first baseman. He became American League MVP in 1993.
Terry Bradshaw appears in ep. 1009 and 1111. He was quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 14 seasons
(1970-83) and became Super Bowl Champion 1975 (SB IX), 1976 (SB X), 1979 (SB XIII) and 1980 (SB XIV). He was
NFL MVP in 1978 and since 1989, he is a Football Hall of Famer.
Ray Jones, Jr. and Larry Brown show up in episode 1025.
Larry Brown played for the played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1992 to 1995 (Super Bowl XXX MVP) and the Oakland
Raiders from 1996-1997 as a defensive back. John Taylor was a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers from 1987
to 1994.
