Gary is Al's boss. She is a top businesswoman (#401 of the Forbes 400 (0906)) and appears in 0906, 0916, 1001, 1102, 1110, 1113 and 1121. She is definitely a woman, played by Janet Carroll. The owner of Al's shoe store was mentioned before Gary showed up in person. In 0723 Al's shoe store was sold to somebody Al refers to as "the guy". Al didn't meet him personally, though, so it's probably the woman he'll meet in 0906. The store's name was "Gary's Shoes and Accessories for Today's Woman" before and after that sale. In episode 0111, Al talks about Gary and his "widow". On that episode we also hear Gary's last name Patterson. So apparently the shoe store was sold from one Gary to another in episode 0723. However, Gary opened an aerobic studio next to Al's store in 1001, also featured in 1006, 1014 and 1015.
