The Bundy neighbourhood in Chicago, made in gingerbread by Peggy in
"God Help Ye, Merry Bundymen" (1113). The Bundy house has a yellow
upper floor, the Rhoades/D'Arcy house is next to it on the right.
Community:
We know the Bundys live in Chicago - not in a suburb - as they are in touch with Chicago city authorities
once in a while, eg with the Chicago City Police.
Surrounding:
We know that the Bundys live near an expressway as Peg can see the house while stuck in traffic in
"We'll Follow the Sun" (502). We can have a look over the roofs of the area in
"The Hood, the Bud and the Kelly" (1015). In "The Chicago Wine Party" (707), Al walks home from work through
a pretty poor area of the city. The Bundys seem to live on a hill (813 & other episodes in
which Al has to push a car home).
Street:
Jeopardy Lane is a fictitious street in Chicago. The Bundy house number is 9764. Sometimes it's given
as 9674. For details read the page about the Bundys. In any case it seems to
be a long street, but not a principal road. The street is poorly taken care of.
In Chicago the even numbers are on the north and west sides of the streets and the odd
numbers are on the south and east sides since the 1906 renumbering plan.
Neighbours:
The Rhoades and the D'Arcys, respectively, live next door in Jeopardy Lane 9766. In some episodes their house
is across the street, but those are Goofs. More about them at the pages about
Marcy, Steven and Jefferson and House Plans.
The McGintys are mentioned several times, and we can see Mrs. McGinty in episode 322. They seem to live at
the third house opposite the Bundys as Bud describes it by looking at the gingerbread
neighborhood on the picture above. We also see and hear from the Johnsons (104), Mr. Pittman (201),
the McKelveys (320, 420), the Donleys (404),
the Schultzes (423), the house of the Thompsons and Brenda Kostrowski (509),
the Ritters (524), the Finleys (524), the Murphys (617), the Mullens (617), the Leavins (617),
Marilyn Stravitz (725), the Grovers (807)
and the Millers (807). We can see and hear many other neighbours in other episodes.
Nearby Places:
Al made it to his working place - the New Market Mall - in under 20 minutes for sex, after a stop at
the drug store, in "Nooner or Nothing" (822). It seems like Al and Jefferson can walk easily to the
nudie bar as well. According to "Twisted" (1103), there's even a secret tunnel from the Bundy house to
the Jiggly Room. "Foodies" is a supermarket near Jeopardy Lane (519/520).
The neighbourhood on a map in "Take My Wife, Please" (807).
There are 8xx numbers in the upper right corner of the map.
Thanks a lot to Marriedaniac, "MrYankees1" and Donald Willard.
