First camera shot: Peg is examining the couch.
Synopsis: The Bundys go on a vacation and end up finding an old prospector who
sells them a map to a gold mine. They call Jefferson & Marcy, who
come to the rescue, thinking the kids are dying, but it turns out Al
& Peg want their money for the mine deal. The six of them go out to
search for gold.
Guest cast:
Prospector: John Byner
Banjo Player: Buddy Matlock
Codger #1: Carmen Filpi
Codger #2: Owen Bush
Young Zeke: Michael G. Moye (one of the creators of the series)
Kellyisms: L.A. short for "Long Island" instead of "Los Angeles". "Probation" instead of "vacation".
Influences: The episode title is influenced by historic US Route 66, the first paved road between Chicago and LA.
However, the actual US Highway 666 goes from Monticello UT, via Cortez CO and Gallup NM, to Douglas AZ on
the US-Mexican border. For 42 miles it's on the same road as the Interstate 40, so the Bundys might have
travelled on that highway on their way to LA. 666 is the devil's number.
