Upper Floor and Basement
Bundy House
Back to «House Plans»
We don't know much about the upper floor of the Bundy house. We do know that there's only one toilet (305).
We often can see Al and Peggy's bedroom and bath. When we look out of the bedroom door, we can see that their
bedroom is at the end of a corridor. On the other side of that corridor, there's Bud's bedroom door.
We can see the corridor in episode 713. Buds bedroom is shown in episodes 701, 904, 1002 and 1012.
Bud has a shower room, too (904). The position of the parent's bedroom might be where it is in my first alternative.
In episode 405 the camera zooms to the window towards the street. In episode 713 it is illuminated when Al and Peg
have sex in their bedroom. As a consequence of that, Bud's bedroom is located towards the Rhoades house.
Al mentioned that in episode 904.
We don't know where the rooms are, except the positions I already mentioned. Especially, we don't know which
room is over the patio. There are only some contradictory hints. Kelly threw a turkey out of her bedroom which
fell down to the patio (1111).
This would confirm the second alternative. In episode 608 Al falls out of the bedroom window next to the door
down to the patio, and in ep. 617, the Bundys watch a fight between the D'Arcys and Steve from the parents' bedroom.
That doesn't fit to the other hints we have. Especially, there wouldn't be enough space
for another room on the other side of the corridor, which can be seen in many episodes through the parents' bedroom.
Sometimes, we get some other strange allusions. E.g. in episode 306, somebody explains the way to the
parent's bedroom as «upstairs and first door on the right». That's possible, when you look at my
second alternative, but not plausible.
We can see the basement quite well in episodes 803, 1002, 1021, 1103 and 1104. When you look at the movements of the
characters, it seems that the stairs are straight from the basement door down to their end. I think there's not
enough room for this solution. Finally, here are my suggestions:
Upper Floor
Apart from contradictory information about the upper floor rooms all through the series, there are
also engineering objections. In almost all houses of that style and era (and today), plumbing is kept to
a central area on upper floors to recuce cost, i.e. the bathrooms should be back to back.
